Nice work Kowohtee. How heavey is the moveable weight? How do you lock tuner in final position? How is tuner attached to barrel, Threaded? How soon till we see some test groups?

I finallly got foresight part from Anschutz yesterday grin so can now begin my build. Will post pic's soon.

A friend of mine ( bench rest shooter) last Saturday mounted tuner Pappas Mid-barrel Tuner .....http://www.killoughshootingsports.com/Webs/tuners.html.
I do not know if it was luck but has made 25 consecutive 10.
I'm thinking to order and prove it on my 1913 for prone position.

..............here it wants an engineer to understand the reaction of the barrel to the shot but you can see what happens and where barrel moves. You must contrast the oscillation.
Every barrel ( I think to have understood )has a its oscillation frequency.
You must find the node where barrel moves and to contrast it with a weight.
I think very difficult to do .

Hi Crazy422s
Is that a Henrich mid barrel tuner as well? What sort of group size improvment did you see when you fitted that?
I'm interested to know why you have a bloop tube when your fore sights are still fixed back at end of barrel?

Hi Environs , Yes it is a Henriech mid barrel tuner and yes it does work to some degree. Im still playing around with it ,so il report back weather it helps with groups from the prone position as i mentioned only a C graded. I did noticed it helped when i had it on the Fortner F27 set up for bench , so you would think itl do the same in the prone position if your an A graded. Now re the bloop tube, i had every intension in mount front sight on it to extend my sight radius. Unfortunately when it arrived from the USA it was way too thin too cut a dovetail in it.

Some people say and im not sure how true it is , that a bloop tube is there to in laymens terms to stop the wind buffeting the round until it has time to leave the muzzle, all i know it does cut down the noise quiet considerably. I have also a full set of interchangable weights for the hohen tuner, lots of toys/gadgets to play with. Cheers Ron

Hi Ron
Yea keep us informed on the mid barrel tuner testing. You could always slip back to the dark side (lol) & use a bench rest rig to test if you think your hold as a C grader is not up to it. Thing would be to test in iscolation without the Hohen, find best gain then add the Hohen.
I to had heard about bullet stabilisation in still air of tube, particularly on gusty days.
Pitty about the bloop tube, you will need some sort of collar clamp with dove tail or sight incoperated like the full bore guys use.

Happy shooting

The earlier Anschutz (18 series and earlier) had dovetails which were attached with screws taped into the barrel but the gauge was also slightly smaller but maybe still an option. Ask around your club, someone may have one that they have/could remove. Failing that I my have one somewhere.

Hi Environs , whilst where on the topic of tuners. I thought it might be the time to discuss the M Werks Tuner stock for a square actioned Anschutz. I just received an email back the other day saying his 1st run of stocks where sold out and he would let me know when he has them back in stock. If your unfamilular with this stock it has the tuner built into the stock itself just in front of the trigger guard. So whilst the Aussie dollar is strong against the greenback nows the time to order. Cheers Ron

Is that the type of tuner which applies pressure on the bottom of the action/or barrel via a screw of some sort?

Hi Environs , If your after a stock for an Anschutz round action that uses a barrel block. Have you looked at the AN1 by Competition shooting supplys, its a tube stock and comes in pretty colours. Unfortunately ive just received an email from there sales dept and they will not export due to there strick state dept laws. However if you have a friend who can purchase, they then can send it as the law dosent apply to individuals according to the email i got. If you do, perhaps you could order TWO haha. Cheers Ron

I am excited to report that I purchased the last 2013 stock that Jeff had. I am waiting for two new Benchmark 3gr tight barrels to be delivered and then Jeff will index them and put one on the 2013 and the other on my 1913 (Match 54 round action, threaded) that goes in an Anschutz aluminum stock. It will be interesting to see how the two guns shoot.

The tuner stock stem, from the report that I got from someone who has one, works beautifully. He has said that he was able to "tune" mid grade ammo to shoot extremely well at 100 yds....the really good stuff should be "scary" good then!!The shooter was a top level prone shooter and is happy with the stem.By the way, he had Jeff at M.Werks index and install a Benchmark barrel on his gun also. So you see, I am not really plowing new ground here!

The stock stem is also much more robust than the stock Annie stem. There are numerous reports of the Annie stocks just breaking in half!!A fellow shooter in Oklahoma had one break and he called Anschutz and told them what had happened....the reply was "Yes that happens...click". WOW..I would be "bitter" if that happened to me. The tuner stock also adjusts the CG back a bit if I recall.

I took the liberty and called Jeff just now and he does have one stock stem for a Match 54 round action available, the last one.

Roy

Hello all....the weight is about 8-10oz held in place with a set screw with a lead stop between threads and screw...the threads that you see are cut directly to the Shillen ratchet barrel..the bloop tube is an old Ahja tube.. as you can see i am putting the witness marks on the tuner weight...at.001"and at .oo8" in both directions. At first I was going to build the tuner "into" the end of the bloop tube...ie threaded insert like..but then the "tuner guru" environs got me to thinking....">)
