Been hunting and shooting for over 10 years, but only been introduced to Indoor prone in last two months.

Have purchased a Krico target rifle a mate had on behalf in his store, and intend to put it to good use in the new season next year.

An engineer by trade, the temptation to fiddle is overpowering, so will be asking questions regarding DIY and building some of my own gear.

Lots to learn, only just starting to scratch the surface. Thanks for any advice and patience along the way.

Cheers

First of all welcome in & thanks for joining in Krico, hope you can find some usefull stuff here on the forum, take the time to rumage around, I'm sure you will. Krico eh? I knew they made sporting rifles but didn't realise they did target rifles as well. It would be interesting to see a photo just to satisfy the curiosity you understand.

Cheers Grumpy.

I have been able to find Nil about my new toy in neumerous searches, only brought up their sporting firearms.
Will post a picture of it as soon as.

The rifle was used my an older gentleman, now passed on. I know not how it shoots indoors as yet. It has the comb shaved to suit him, but no rear sight yet. It looks similar to an older Anschutz or Walther, nothing too spectacular.

List of things to do: Purchase rear sight, make hand-stop, plan/machine/fabricate composite and aluminium stock.

Thats a good list of things to do but before you get too carried away with a new stock, may I suggest that you aproach someone in your club and see if they have a bench tester and test the groups that it can shoot. I'm sure it will shoot resonable groups but best to be sure that its worth your while spending the time making something like a new stock. Having said that I wish you well in your ventures.

Rifle was 'purchased' by a guy before me, took it away for a weekend, apparently couldn't find a rear sight to fit, used a scope, and wasn't happy with the grouping.

Friend that owns the shop refunded his money, sent to his gunsmith, who fitted a scope and shot a 5 shot cloverleaf at 25m outdoors.

For the $350 I have paid for the rifle, I don't really have a lot to loose. The previous owner of store ripped off the trusties of the estate, as the rifle is worth close to $1000 according to gunsmith.

Hawera club has Bruce Cameron as president, and hopefully I can gain his and other club memebers help and guidence.

Cheers

I agree with the Grumpy one, make sure it can actually shoot a good group, before getting too excited.

But many a fine tune has been played on an old fiddle, so don't be embarrased to turn up at the range with it...You may surprize yourself.

Yip, makes plenty of sense.

Building and tinker suits me fine as a fitter/turner by trade, so am competant enough and have access to tools right up to CNC.

Have been reloading and shooting high caliber for a number of years, so have an understanding of accuracy. Small bore is just an interesting new challenge.

Have found Bruce and others to be very helpfull thus far, although have only seen his son shoot. Only seen his very pretty Anschutz sitting in its case smile

Hi Krico,

Welcome aboard!

I had never heard of a Krico until a couple weeks ago when a fellow club member here at Wanganui showed me the one he had tucked away when his son used to shoot. I believe he has in mind to sell it in the near future.

I wish you well in smallbore and, no doubt, we will bump into each other next season.

Cheers,
Pete

"Is this similar to what you have?"

No, that is much to modern and shiney haha. And I think from my searches that the 401 is a repeater. Pretty though.

Cheers Wheels, no doubt I will. I am a member of the Wanganui Deerstalkers ass. so I know a few people down there. Brought the rifle off Ken at Wilson Outdoors.
