Jeez, Golfer huh? Good to see you have taken up a sport where the same mental processes are EXTREMELY relevant. I had a sports psycho work with me a few years ago and he was struck by the similarities.

Welcome to the 1411 club, mines a 1975 model, not thumbhole stock though. I've upgraded the sights, centra duo 18m with diopter, level and centra 5 colour rear iris. Also SKP butt plate.
Pretty happy with it and don't see myself buying a different rifle.

Thanks I can't see myself doing any 3p in the future as much as I would like to upgrade to a 1981 precise stock I can't justify it. Mine's a 76 barrell - hasn't been used much in the last 15 year though, still nice and shoots tight groups at 50m with eley club.

shooting first golf second though - amazing how many golfers have no idea how precise they should be particularly putting and if they had had smallbore discipline they would be much better. I have all my guys read position rifle shooting for an awareness process.
This is one of the reason I have been successful in the specialised field of putting. I also draw on principles from Billiards/snooker, darts and martial arts. I learnt a long time ago that breathing was so important in shooting - might have been one of my first tips - I've used the same technique for putting. Another tip I use is how to trigger the ALPHA brianwave state on demand. I've been using hypnosis since 1969 all of which seem to be attributes to shooting. Natural Aim Position is also a key technique carried over.

1411 .... great but please excuse me for musing as I don't mean to be critical, I guess the stock pictured in you avitar is not the one you use as it looks more like a 1413 or later ??13 stock, my original rifle was a 1413 which I still have and let new/promising shooters use to encourage them into some descent gear and alow them to keep the same settings instead of having to change the club rifle back to suit them each time they shoot.

hey Grumpy - just a generic avatar I picked up somewhere along the line until I get an appropriate one organised. This really is a great sport, and should be encouraged more than it is. Govs don't help with their r&r and city folk seem to be misguided about firearms. Fear is a lack of knowledge.
Anyway great to be on the site and no doubt hear more from you and me.
