600 yd. shooting with the Gary Eliseo S1 and R1 "Tube" guns. Both in .223 Remington. This was shot at Panola County Gun Club on a 100+ degree day, and with heavy mirage. 80 grain JLK and 80 grain Sierra bullets were used. Thanks for watching!

I watched this yesterday and couldnt believe the pace they were shooting at. Load, hold & fire in a matter of seconds. Biggest wait was for tagets to be marked. I guess thats the thing with full bore while wind and conditions are the same & holding steady you go for it.
Carnt wait to have another go this summer, especially 1000yrds.

A well made video. It was "cut and shut" to speed up the action. Yes fullbore is about finding the middle and shooting in a good rythm if the wind is steady.

Do you need to load of the holder with full bore?

Some do some dont, if shooting Great Britain style three to a target you usually rest between shots.

I saw that and thought it was a bit dangerous. Thought it would be like smallbore- not allowed to close the bolt until rifle is shouldered. Environs

Sorry missed your point, Bolt may not be closed until shouldered and on target area.

I get the impression that the target is elevated and lowered in a specific time frame allowing only a set time to load and fire.
Is this correct?

No set time, it dependes on the marker. Some are quick & accurate others slow and miss mark score.
Then again if the shooter is using something small like a .223 then the holes are relativly small and on a big target (say @ 600m) covevered in patches it can be tricky to spot.
There is certainly more potential for overloading problems.
It is up to the shooter to choose pace at which he shoots. A tipical match is 10 shots time limit 15min, but if wind &/or mirage is staedy he will try and get them away as quick as he can, it's up to the marker to keep up. If you slowed down then theres bigger chance of wind shift or change in mirage which means having to calulate (read guess and hope like crazy) a sight adjustment to compensate.

Sounds like fun. I tried fullbore once about 20 yrs ago. Was only about 100yds, from memory, but wouldn't mind having another crack.
Looks a bit too expensive to take it up.

Those guys are shooting WAY too fast. No breathing either. From a coaching point of view they are wasting ammunition. :-)

I took it up about 4 yearts ago with an old Grunig I bought for $800. Spent another $150 on reloading gear and probably shot about 2000 rounds in that time. The barrel DEFINTELY needs replacing but it was still capable of a 593/600 at the 2009 Oceania 300m Championship in January at Trentham. Gold by the way.

I have never spent enough time on wind analysis and it shows in my scores in the wind. When it is calm or a light wind it is quite easy to adjust but once it starts fishtailing then there is no sibstitute for shooting EVERY weekend!

But if you have a good smallbore technique any club will take you in a team shoot. Uper Hutt have included me in the last 2 years of the NAtional team shoot ....and we have won both times. Caused quite a stir the frist year when I was still shooting C grade. A few asked they guys why the hell I was there!!

Hehe.

I agree with Ross, yes there is a heap of cutting and fade shoots, but there a couple of shots they load, shoulder rifle and break shot withing 10sec and you can still see the guy in background moving without any jumps in tape, also last guys last shot you can see his hat still swinging from when he loaded and he breaks the shot.
Hay but it wouldnt be shooting if there wasnt some controversial to haggle over. wink

Hello All
I am in this video....that is me with the orange R1 in the background....er....there goes my 15 seconds of fame!
As some have opined, this video was heavily "sliced and diced" by my son to meet the 5 minute limit that I imposed upon him.He only just made it!

A quick note on the rifle in your shoulder before the bolt is closed issue. I have shot international venues such as Bisley, Bloemfontien, Ottowa, and even Trentham where this was the rule. However, only a very small number of ranges in the US use this rule in their matches and many US shooters, unless having shot internationally, are not even aware of the rule. Myself, I see it as not such a bad idea.

I hope that you enjoy the video. It was meant to be fun and a cunning and sly rouse to get my son to the range to pull targets for us by plying him with the enticement of shooting the video and then placing it on "THE TUBE". It worked.

I look forward to returning to NZ and Upper Hut club. My shoot there in 1995 was great....well....huuumm....except for the two crossfires, and where I had to buy rounds for all in the Upper Hut club....TWICE.

Vaya Con Dios
Roy

Hey Roy,
Glad you could join us. Appreciate your video.
It's always a pleasure to see the "big guns" in action.

Oh, and a well edited video too I might add.
