I like to look through my scope after each shot to make sure the dot has gone and then same again also it is part of my routine and if I don't I seem to get a little cocky/fast and nines seem to land on my pretty little card.

I do have a problem of adding up my card along the way this would be the only reason I would stop using it!

Tania van Zuylen was trying to beat me the other night and said ok lets do a card no scope after sighters 100.4 for me and I had not had one for 3 weeks and she got 97 so that may tell ya adding up is not good for the head! (well my head)

What if your 3 sighters (all in the same position) are in the middle but you were out of position (only slightly) while putting them there?
Now you're going around your card putting in perfect 10 testers... or heaven forbid...9's and missing out on many 10.1's.
Personally, I think I'd like to know if I had 2 or 3 in a row that were a little off.

I'm with Danny & Wheelz on this one. Im also just too nosey to miss out on taking a peek although I have noticed on occaisions when I and others have put the scope to one side (after sighters) that the scores acheived seem to be better. Maybe its to do with self pressure to perform and/or the tendency to score and count whilst still mid match etc

I just discovered another reason to check every shot tonight.
I had 3 shots in a row at 9 o'clock. I knew it wasn't the sights as the sighters were pretty good and the preceeding shots were fair too. I didn't make a sight adjustment but it did tell me I was doing something wrong and that I needed to correct my position.
I did this and came back to the middle again. (Sadly, damage was already done and had to be content with a 95)

Hi Phillie.Hope this will help. All the information supplied by fellow members are all first class.I started shooting Smallbore in 1960 and have continued,on and off until today. All the advice given came at different times and to put it all together took years.
I then happened on a book on the Internet and learnt what I knew, ammounted to very little (Low Nineties) at the time. The information in this book is invaluable and all condensed into 62 pages.I cannot recommend this book to highly.Within weeks I am shooting very high 90s consistently (CZ 452 Timney Trigger).I am 72 in November so not 20/20 anymore.I have no contact with the writer, never met him or know anyone associated with him.The book can be Downloaded from the Internet, cost was $10.00 US.Best Monies I have ever spent on Shooting Smallbore.
One thing I will add from my own experience, although its in the book.Do not bother with cheaper ammunition for target shooting, try as many higher priced ammunitions as possible to find which suits your Rifle best. Poor groups are very frustrating and not always your fault.
I urge you to try this book, you will not be disapointed. This also applies to fellow members looking for 100s.

I couldn't not look,it takes so little to be off the dot..Leo has a niffty coaching tip ..set yourself up with a card..use your scope on the sighter's only .then alter and put your scope to the side and shoot 3 or is it 5??not sure..get up out of position, back down shoot another 3 (I think) back up.down 3 etc all this till the end of card with no scope, and then see how good you are at getting down into your position!!!you use a lot of ammo on 1 card but it does show how good you are at it

p.s on a recent 20 card, I grabbed some 'cats meat' tinned variety ammo, and went in for shoot, just to see how the batch shot, banged away until half way around the 2nd card the mind games started..this is good..got to the last shot with the thought ..himm could have a really good card here,9 dots so far..took care with the last 1 ..yes!! its there..got out of position, and when putting the rifle down I noticed that I still had a round left!!OMG the shooter next to me is saying at the same time ..that looks to be a good card BUT are you going to finish it!!I had had a lapse of concentration and skipped a shot,so into gear, checked my target,position..and shot the last dot to get my second ever 100.10 with a 199.17 total..try that little test of position as above it does help.

I hope I don't shoot anymore of those "ZERO POINTS". lol.

I shot one at a champs last year, I touched the trigger in error after closing the bolt on my first sighting shot, it went into the butts somewhere! Lucky it was just a sighter aye.
It rattled me somewhat though.
