Oops, meant the bolt! Was thinking of the stock I was going to use to make my darling husband some homemade soup after being out shooting.

Never think about what not to do, chances are you will do it. Always think positive, concentrate on the current shot that you are in the process of taking. You can't get back the one that you have just taken so forget it.

I have descovered in the last few years how position can effect your shots i think its called natural point of aim or something but when ever i shoot a card I always make sure its sitting right first, breath a few times to make sure the target is center and then when ready, fire the shot. only problem with this is its made me slow lol. With shooting it is a constant learning process. and some days no matter how hard you try they just wont center remeber we all have off days let it slide and next time will be better smile

Right on Phillie!
Being off-position can stuff up the whole feel of the card and you're constantly trying to compensate for it.

There was a tip in our Bulls Hit magazine on how body angle can influence the shot which was very good. I'll dig it out and post it.

Your right Phillie, but you only have to get your proper natural point of aim before you start shooting.
Get down look at your target when putting rifle to your shoulder. Then close your eyes and prepare yourself as if to fire a shot. When it feels right open your eyes and see where your sights are pointing. That is your natural point of aim.
If its not on your target, without moving your sling elbow from it's spot on the mat, shift your body until you are on your target. Thats your NPA.
When you commence shooting you will only make small adjustments as you go around the target. Hope this helps you speed up a little.
We'll thats what I do and it works for me.

Happy shooting.

Some say that you should check you natural point of aim for each shot and adjust accordingly because each shot is to a different point on an indoor target

After shooting a season out door where the target diagram is essentially in the same place each shot(target changers in use), you do tend to get a bit complacent

20 shots = pain. 60 shots = prosthetic hand.

I guess we all interpret things differently. And so do what works for yorself.
I still do make sure that as I shift around the target that the sights are going onto the bull while breathing onto it, and move a leg or something to adjust slightly.
What I call getting your npa is when you first get down into position on your mat.
Then you are pretty much set up for your target, and only have to make minor movements.
Happy shooting.

Hi guys,

My first tip was to work on the breathing as well. Some people try to hold their breath when the rifle is on the target but it is more important to let your breath out first and then line the rifle up based on your relaxed body position when the breath is out. This is done by moving the body left, right or backwards or forwards and then doing the closing the eyes for the natural point of aim. Hope this helps Phillie

Cheers

I have a couple of tips to do with sighting:

1. As well as centering your target in your front sight, you also need to ensure that your front sight is centered in your rear sight, otherwise you actually aren't looking straight through your sights.

2. A lot of shooters focus on their target - the most critical part to focus is actually your front sight. If your front sight is perfectly clear, and your target is fuzzy, you can still shot dots - trust me, its the story of my life.
Of course, if you are one of those lucky people with youth and 20/20 vision on your side, you can probably focus both anyway, and can laugh behind the backs of those of us not as fortunate as you - treasure it while it lasts!

Hope this helps!

what do you all think about shooting a few shots and when they are centering not looking through the scope??
I have been told to do this by a few people, I find it hard though cos i just like to know where they are going!
