I am trying to learn your targets for indoor shooting. The eight is labeled, so I think I figured out the 9, then I'm lost. I do not understand the decimal scoring; 10 versus 10.1?

Hi Mrs 100yards,

You'll notice the first and second ring from the center are closer together than the rest.
If the shot falls within (not touching) the second ring it scored as a 10.
If the shot falls within the inner ring it is scored a 10.1 (Inner bull).
This usually means the "dot" has gone.
On a scoring card the maximum possible is 100.10
The "point" score has nothing to do with decimal system. It purely denotes the number of "inner bulls" scored.
A 20 shot card (Double cards) can score a possible 200.20.

Hope this helps.

Pete

If you check this picture you'll see the difference between the two. TO means it has been "Tested Out" and TI means "Tested In".

Thanks, that makes sense now. It's actually quite neat. Gotta love the internet and the stuff you can learn on here.

Yes, and welcome to the forum.
This forum has only been running for a few months and already there is a wealth of infomation here coming from a diverse section of the shooting community. We have novices and National representatives on here.
If you have a different target/scoring system at your home we'd love to hear more about it.

Pete

What is the diameter of the 10.1 ring and the 10 ring?

We rarely get to shoot indoors. Our closest indoor range is 3 hours north of us in Calgary Alberta Canada. We shot there once a month over the winter months at 25 metres. Our 10 is 2mm (3/32"), while the 9 is 1 cm (7/16"). Usually we shoot at our outdoor range at 50m...in the winter you'll see me with the heater beside me to warm my hands.

The inner ring is Ø10mm and the 10 ring is Ø14mm

Yours seems rather small...unless you are "inward gauging"? (Did I get the terminology the right way round?)

Hmm...I've heard about your winters!!

I suspect they may be shooting 50ft. YES FEET!!!.

It is a "standard" US distance especially designed to shoot in Gymnasiums etc. Tight as!!

There are 2 targets from the Shooting Federation Of Canada; the one we shoot is stock #136, we shoot this indoors at 25 meters.
The other one is stock #31. It is shot at 20 meters and the 10 is 1mm and the 9 is 8mm.
Both targets are a 10 bull with two sighters inside a box in the middle of the target, we shoot 2 shots per bull for a score out of 200. They are scored "inward gauging"...if the shot touches the 10 circle, it is scored as a 10.
When outdoors at 50 meters we shoot the ISSF target #150 for Match and the Sporter target for sport rifle.
