Thinking of getting one of these from Sean Hayes Not only do they look the part but Sean said they are really good to use specially if you have a pulse problem!

About the Centra Sling

New from Centra & MEC comes a reinvention of the rifle sling, with three main features:
  • An additional loop around the arm reduces the transmission of pulse from the arm through the sling, and by ensuring that the pull from the sling is distributed equally on both sides of the arm it reduced the pressure on the arm.
  • An adjustment screw on the sling allows for fine tuning of the sling length to take place, even when the shooter is in position
  • The coupling between the two parts of the sling can be rotated in 30° steps, allowing the shooter to optimise the position of the front part of the sling.
In addition, the connection between the sling and handstop has been simplified, with a screw in connector providing a lower profile connection, with less pressure on the supporting hand.

The new sling is amazing! my 1st card 97.2 little adjustment new card 100.7 moved the sling out 2 holes 97.3 and put it out one more hole and 99.6 so not to hard to get set-up right.

I think it is the best sling on the market and has my vote!!

Thats a mighty fine looking sling you got there partner.
I have a question;
The slings that I have seen like yours before, the end strap which attaches to the rifle was free to rotate on the adjuster (that fancy knurled knob in the middle) when not attached to the rifle and often does. Is the adjustment mechanism restrained in any way to prevent the forward stap from rotating on the adjuster or is it all free to rotate as on other models, meaning that you gotta check your sling position/setting every time you shoot?
I do like the feature which allows the forward sling staps to travel on the arm band parts, this has gotta help to give even tension from both inside and outside of the arm

I away check the position/setting everytime I shot as my last sling was the same maybe I do not understand your question.

One thing I did need to do was go two clicks to the right (I hate doing this normally as I know it is spot on) so I thought my position must be a little different on my next card it was still 10.1 1st shot this is why I heading out again to see if it is the same.

I feel it is 100% even tension no pulling to the left or right this could mean I were pushing the rifle without knowing!

Maybe I have mastered the art of shooting! LOL

Just took another look at the pix and it appears that the wheel closest to the spring might be a locking device (jam nut), that being the case then no probs, all should be locked up and not allow the adjuster buckle and the rest of the strap forward to rotate

I'm looking forward to seeing the reports on this sling over the coming months. I have doubts about things that have alot of fiddly bits.
The blurb sounds good. As they do...Good luck.

Well I like to thing I am a freak when it comes to getting my position right very time.. (like all of us) well as I said in the post above I need to go two clicks to the right did two cards and both were spot on however tonight I had to go two click to the left!

So Grumpy your posting about the "fancy knurled knob in the middle" maybe something to make sure is in the same place each time!

1st 2 cards 98.3, 99.3 and my last card rocked 10,10,10.1,10.1,10.1,10.1,10.1,10.1,9! and 10.1 ok yes I know stop counting your cards LOL 99.7 so if you get it right you will love it!

100.7, 99.6 and 99.7 top cards for today not bad for a new sling and a D Grader

You should be able to fit it to any rifle, its just a matter of fitting your own attachment.

I have had my sling for a while now and I have to keep asking myself, why did they go with the connector that they did? Having to do up a screw and then unscrew it every time you connect is bloody rediculous, it's also ten times harder for me because the extra material around the connector hits back part of my handstop meaning I need a bit of extra pressure just to get it in. That wouldn't be so bad if the connector just slipped in but having to screw the thing as well.. What were they thinking?

I have never had a sling fall out, ever, absolutely no need for a lock on it.

Otherwise, I like it smile

I when back to my "Kurt Thune Sling II" for a few weeks however have return to the Centra Sling and shot a 199.5 and 99.5 in the last two days.

I like the one strap that goes around your hand I think they may have made the connector that way for less movement?

It is well made and looks the business!

I don't know if it locks it from swiveling, I would hope not because the position I am in when I have to screw it is not my final shooting position. I would hope that it swivels with my glove in place to accommodate my final hand position, if not I couldn't see how you would ever get it consistent.

By sliding the smaller knurled knob back toward the spring (left in the picture), the two sections of the sling can be offset in increments of 30 degrees

Has any one had a problem with this Sling? At our Rep shoot tonight I ended up with a very low position afterwards when checking the Sling the Buckle had pulled through to the next hole!
The holes are quite close together, which is good, but the material seems to be very prone to deforming.

The lock is a great idea, i have used uncle mikes handstops for 15 + years and they are a great handstop however they do wear out (had a couple over this time) I've had them disconect a few times over the years....never cost me a point but damn close tho!! not funny when it happens when your strapped into a 308!! the lock stop this from happening and i'd rather have the slight inconvenience than be 5 or 10 points down!!

Hi Danny,
along the Centra sling have you bought the connect?

http://www.mec-shot.de/downloads/centramecnewiwa09.pdf page 5

is OK..a coach of my Federation said it is extremely effective fixing the sling securely to the jacket....

I bought Connect last week in a Centra-Mec Stand during a competition.... but I can not use it because I had a shoulder surgery.

Cheers

The material is a lttle to thin if you have a tight position.
I trialled one for a couple of months and was unhappy the buckle was stretching the holes.

Centra has given me a thicker band as well as a very thick leather band to try, we will see how it goes!

At this stage, I'm not convinced it reduces the pulse the way they say!

I am very impressed with the response from Sean Hayes with replacing the two straps which were torn. The replacement seems to be a little thicker than the original one so I am hoping it will stand the pace of time.
Thanks Sean for a great service.

Warren,
the elasticity of the sling is probably an advantage and at the same time a weak point.
A friend of mine has a tight position and the buckle stretches the holes; in the past months I have used it 3 / 4 times but I did not see a result like that, I'll try again when I take on training .
